Premiers dust off the cobwebs at Upper Hutt

After a disappointing midweek performance, our Premiers kicked back into life with a 29-17 win over Upper Hutt Rams at Maidstone Park.

They got into their work early with an excellent break by Ryan Setefano finished off by Ryan Saunders in the second minute of the game.

From there the first half was a stop/start affair unfortunately due to two significant leg injuries to MSP prop A'asa Sanerivi and No. 8 Pago Haini. Both required an ambulance to leave the ground.

Isaia Petelo ensured the Red Machine held a handy 15-3 halftime lead after slipping through the Rams defence then flicking the ball wide to wing Kerrod Foase to dot down.

James Tuia scored another good team try early into the second half but two intercept tries to Upper Hutt kept the scoreline close. Hurricane Loni Uhila made his debut for MSP and was industrious around the park.

With ten minutes to go MSP again cracked the defence this time with reserve prop Jacob Taituave getting the try and sealing the bonus point.

The side will be pleased with this performance where they dominated play, but also capitalised on it.

Next week's match is against Wainuiomata at William Jones Park.

We couldn't pick just one #MaristMoment from today's game, so enjoy the two tries that started and finished the bonus point win! Ryan Saunders finishes the first, Jacob Taituave finishes the last - both great team movements! #iBleedRED
