Courageous draw at Evans Bay puts season back on track

The Premiers have fought back from a 0-17 deficit after 30mins to draw with Ories 27-27.

After Jacob Taituave scored to put the team back in touch just before the half, Sam Scown came out firing to score two quick tries soon after oranges. After a further period strong on attack, prop Bryce Blair crossed the line after a breakaway from Isaac O'Connor. This gave MSP a 27-17 lead with 20 minutes to go. However, as always the Magpies struck back and tied the game with a try followed by a long range penalty.

With five minutes to go the Ories five eighth was set in the pocket, directly in front of the posts, to slot a winning drop goal but he saw red and spilled the ball. This ensured the score remained deadlocked.

The bonus point earned in this draw leaves the Premiers two competition points out of fourth place ahead of next week's clash with sixth placed Wainui.
