FACILITIES

GYM AND TRAINING FIELDS:
MSP teams train at the Marist St Pats gymnasium at Evans Bay in Kilbirnie, next to St Pats College (see map below). The entrance is off Kemp Street.

NEW GYM SURFACE INSTALLED: This new artificial surface was installed in time for the 2007 season. It proved a vast improvement on the old sawdust gym.
More about it in the June 2007 Red Machine.

Early in 2003, gym improvements costing $380,000 were completed.

The gym renovations were a major undertaking by the club and many people helped produce one of the best club rugby facilities of its type - including Chris Ryan Builders and the subcontractors (many of whom are club members).
Hunt Davies Architects added real style, and the gym now sits comfortably within the St Patrick's College campus.

The new features then included:

  • the large changing rooms
  • tiled shower areas
  • management office
  • viewing/physio room and
  • a sports education room.

The gym, which is set next to three floodlit training fields, has the fully equipped weights rooms which were revamped at the end of the 2006 season.
