Under 85 Blues
The under-85 Blues after their 37-17 win over Johnsonville on 5 June gave them the JC Bowl as first-round winners of division 1. Going in to the game needing a bonus-point win to secure top spot for the second year in a row, the team turned on a great second-half performance with prop Henry Fidow scoring three tries and halfback Adam Saxton being awarded the man-of-the-match.

Marist St Pats v Petone: Photographer Dave Lintott was at Evans Bay Park for the premiers' Past Players and Supporters' Day clash with Petone on 15 May. In a rugged and exciting contest, MSP took the honours 16-10.

The try that was... Chris Slade leaps high to take the ball... dashes down the sideline.... and dives over in the corner for MSP's only try.
The try that wasn't... Julian Tupai chases through... shepherds the ball over the line.. and falls on it. But 'no try' said the ref.

Coached by Andrew Robinson and captained by Henry Fidow, the Blues won seven games on the trot, scoring 175 points for to 20 against. They are seen here celebrating at Martin Luckie Park after being awarded the trophy on 6 June. The Blues joined MSP's senior 1s and reserves as winners of their respective grades.

MSP senior 1s win Harper Lock Shield
SHIELD WINNERS: MSP's senior 1s were presented with the Harper Lock Shield on 6 June after a superb first round in which they went 11 games undefeated to win the grade 17 competition points ahead of second-placed Johnsonville. Coached by Dave McGuinness and John Duignan, the side was captained by Sean Hay (holding the shield). They played some great running rugby, scoring an average 42 points a game to nine against. This photo was taken after the last game of the round, a 37-17 win over Norths at Porirua Park.

SPILLANE CUP WINNERS: Marist St Pats has the Spillane Cup back in the trophy cabinet for the first time in many seasons after playing some great rugby in the NZ Marist Spillane Cup tournament in Wanganui on 14-15 March.
A brilliant weekend of weather was matched by some classy rugby from a confident MSP side that defeated Hastings Marist 69-3 on Saturday and then accounted for North Harbour Marist 52-17 in the final on Sunday. First-five Fa'atonu Fili was in sparkling form and was awarded player-of-the tournament.
MSP's colts also enjoyed a good weekend, winning 36-8 against Hamilton Marist on Saturday and then 32-17 against Hutt Old Boys Marist on Sunday to collect the Moran Cup.
More about the Spillane tournament in the latest Red Machine newsletter.

NZ MARIST CUP RUNNERS-UP: Marist St Pats sevens team after a 26-22 loss to Ardmore Marist from Counties in the final of the NZ Marist Cup at Evans Bay Park on 7 February 2009.
The NZ Marist
tournament is run on the same days as the International Sevens at the Stadium, and played in the morning so players and spectators can see some of the action at the Stadium later in the day. This year the NZ Marist tournament was better and bigger than ever, with Marist teams from Whangarei to Christchurch and the West Coast taking part.
