Premier Women highlight Club Day with big win

Our Premier Women turned in a statement performance on our Club Day, a highlight of a day of strong results.

The last time the Petone Premier Women had lost a game was in the final of the 2023 season - to Marist St Pats. In a much anticipated rematch (after our hiatus in 2024), this was going to be a barometer of the promising season for our side. The team did not disappoint. After a close first half, the team went up a gear in the second scoring five tries and a 45-20 win. The will host a top of the table clash with Norths next week.

Over the road, the Premier 2 Men and Colts continued their winning ways with big wins. The Premier 2 Men beat a strong Petone side by 31-12 and the Colts dominated Norths by 64-22.

The Swindale Shield match, played in front of a big crowd, was a signature arm wrestle with Petone. The home side clawed back a 0-14 scoreline to trail by 7-14 at the half. They managed to get their noses ahead midway through the second half but couldn't regain the lead after conceding two tries - final score 27-29.

Back over the road, the Under 85s went down to Avalon by 14-37.

Two matches were played on Hataitai Park with a quick walk back to the clubrooms for Club Day festivities. The Internationals extended their winning streak to 21 matches with a 29-15 over Western Suburbs in a repeat of last years final. The Presidents rounded off the rugby results with a 29-15 win over Upper Hutt Rams.

On the Netball courts MSP 1 beat WGC 3 by 34-19 and MSP 2 beat SMOG 7 by 27-23.

In another highlight at the clubrooms on Club Day, Maddie Feaunati donated her debut England test match jersey to Marist St Pats having recently returned from winning the Women's 6 Nations.
