Trailblazer Michelle Smyth to play 50th game

Michelle (aka Mitch) Smyth will become the first player to play 50 games for the Marist St Pats Women's team when she runs out against Wainuiomata on Saturday.

Mitch first played for the Marist St Pats Women’s team back in 2008, but she has been playing rugby since 1997 for Wanganui City College, from there she has embarked on an impressive career which spans 20 years. she has played women’s rugby not only in Wellington but in Denmark, Australia and Scotland!

Over the years Mitch has been a constant driver and advocate for Women's rugby at Marist St Pats which has paved the way for the successful reintroduction of a team to that grade in the past two years. We are very fortunate to have her at Marist St Pats as her contribution is not limited to on the field.

We will be celebrating Mitch’s milestone on Saturday at the Marist St Pats Clubrooms at 5pm. You are all very welcome to help us celebrate this very special achievement for a very special lady.
