Premier Men drop to Hardham Cup

Our Premier Men have dropped into the Hardham Cup draw after losing their Jubilee Cup elimination match against Oriental-Rongotai.

Played in front of a bumper crowd at Hataitai Park, our side couldn't capitalise on early possession and found themselves down by 5-15 at the break. The deficit increased to 5-22 soon after half time but the troops rallied for a big push in the final 30 minutes.

Second half tries to John Tuia and Shane Thompstone got the team back within five points but we couldn't get over the final hurdle.

The team now drop to the Hardham Cup side of the draw and will play Wellington this week.

Earlier, the Premier 2 Men won their Ed Chaney Cup elimination match against Stokes Valley and will continue in that competition, travelling to Hutt Old Boys Marist this weekend.

The Colts had a good win on Friday night, beating Wellington by 39-7. The draw for the next round should be out soon.

The Internationals beat Western Suburbs by 57-12, the Under 85s lost to Petone by 12-34 and the Presidents beat Upper Hutt by 34-5. Both Netball teams had good wins.
