Welcome to Colts rugby

Colts rugby at MSP

Every year Marist St Pats consistently produces a strong colts side, with 2011 proving an exceptional season. The colts won the first and second-round trophies, dropping just one of 18 games all season, while scoring 551 points for and 171 against.

Colts rugby at MSP aims to develop players a year or two out of school into future MSP premier players. Our goal is to improve individual skills and decision-making abilities to complement a young player's natural strength and speed.

Live trainings are held with senior teams, challenging players to lift to the next level. Players are encouraged to reserve or fill in for the club’s senior sides. The colts is seen as a feeder team for players that could play premier and senior rugby in the following years.

Annual Spillane tournament

MSP Colts benefit from attending the NZ Marist Spillane Cup tournament each year with the premier team. This is always a fantastic start to the season, and a good way to get to know team mates and build that team bond.

The colts had a win and a loss at the tournament in New Plymouth in 2012. The previous year in Hamilton, they won the Moran Cup section with a 20-17 victory over Auckland Marist in the final.
