Women’s rugby at MSP

The Red Dragons made history in 2008 when they became Marist St Pat’s first women’s team. Playing in the local Wellington women’s grade, the side is a good mix of new, college and current players, some who are mums, some students and professionals.

They are a dedicated and energetic group who enjoy the year’s challenges and love to play the game.

In the team’s short history we have become a lively and popular part of Marist St Pats. Players have won representative status at regional secondary school level and in the National Provincial Competition (NPC).

We look to create a comfortable learning environment for all levels of player, so that individuals can build their skills and gain a better understanding of the game.

Training during the season is on Monday and Wednesday nights at the Evans Bay gym and training grounds. Games are played on Saturday morning, normally at 11.30am. Off-season the team gets together for training and takes part in other sports to maintain fitness and skills.
