Jubilee Cup playoffs start next week

Our Premiers appeared to be looking ahead to next week already after a sloppy second half saw them go down 17-43 to Johnsonville at Helston Park.

After scoring in the opening minute and then taking a 12-5 lead, it was largely all Johnsonville from there. Trailing by 12-17 at the half, an early second half try to Dallas Natoli saw the teams draw level again before it was one way traffic from the Hawks.

Marist St Pats finish the Swindale Shield in eighth place with a 7 win, 6 loss record. We expect they will play Upper Hutt Rams at Maidstone Park next week - this is still to be confirmed. For those unfamiliar with the format of the Jubilee Cup, the teams placed 5th-8th play off to either win and continue in the Jubilee Cup playoffs - or drop to the Hardham Cup if they lose that play off.

Earlier at Helston Park, our Colts survived a scare to beat Johnsonville by 31-25. They have one week of the Paris Memorial Trophy competition to play and face Poneke next week.

The Premier Reserves beat Johnsonville by 31-21 and finish the Harper Lock Shield one competition point outside the top eight. Their playoff opponent next week also to be confirmed.

The Internationals stay unbeaten after beating the OBU Righteous Pink Ginners by 25-17. The Presidents lost to Tawa by 28-68 and the Under 85s unfortunately defaulted.

The Netballers had no games over the long weekend.
