Premier Women top qualifiers for final

Our Premier Women continued their march to the final with a nine game winning streak after beating Northern United by 41-20 on Saturday.

It was another high scoring affair played on a fine winters morning, with five of the seven starting backs getting over the try line. Halfback Tamara Ruaporo continued her strong form adding 11 points from the kicking tee to go with a try.

The team will take on Petone in the Tia Paasi Memorial Trophy Final on Saturday at NZCIS in Upper Hutt at 11.30am. Watch out for our final preview later this week.

In the Swindale Shield our Premier Men kept their top-8 hopes alive with a 36-31 win over Upper Hutt Rams. With the teams locked at 14-14 at halftime, a strong start to the second half saw them take the spoils. Realistically they may still need to beat Wainuiomata and Petone in the final two rounds to make the top eight.

Earlier the Colts got back on track with a 10-7 win over a strong Upper Hutt side and the Premier 2 Men had a comfortable 42-12 win over their counterparts from Upper Hutt.

Continuing a good day of results against the Rams, the Internationals had an arm-wrestle with their long time rivals and came out on top by 17-15 in the 250th match played by the Internationals.

The Presidents were also winners 45-32 over Stokes Valley, while the Under 85s went down by 19-31 to Johnsonville.

On the courts, Netball 1 went down to East by 18-34; Netball 2 beat Nga Mokopuna by 33-13.
