Sakaria, Sportsman of the Year; Women, Team of the Year

Marist St Pats came together on Friday night to celebrate the individual and team successes of another great season.

Premier and Wellington Lions Prop was named Sportsman of the Year following another outstanding season where his hard work was again rewarded with a spot in the Mitre 10 Cup squad. Vince is a tireless worker and we look forward to seeing his contribution to the Lions this year.

Monica Tagoa'i was named the Most Outstanding Women's Player after she also had a season to be very proud of. Monica has been named in the Wellington Pride squad for the Farah Palmer Cup and was travelled to Japan earlier in the year with the Black Ferns 7s Development side.

The Father Geoff Broad Trophy for Team of the Year was awarded to the Premier Women. This award not only recognizes success on the field, but contribution to the club off the field - the Women's team achieved both this year. In the second year of a long term strategic plan they earned promotion to Division One where they made the semi finals. They have also developed a great team culture which has been evident to all involved in the club this year.

Off the field, the W.M. O'Connor Memorial Cup is the highest award given to a non-playing club member, this was awarded to Rory McNicholas. Not only has Rory managed the Premier side this season, but he has been instrumental behind the scenes in seeking financial support for the club.

The Mick Horan Memorial Trophy is awarded to a player who always gives their best, never takes a backward step and works hard at training - this was awarded to exceptional Premier wing Michael Buckley (who was also recognized as the clubs top try scorer this season).

Congratulations to all prizewinners, as President Pat Martin said in his closing address these individuals and teams have all contributed greatly to the club this season. He also acknowledged the tireless work of volunteers and generous support of sponsors to keep the club running. All full list of prizewinners can be found here.
