Premiers fall to Petone

Our Premiers have suffered their first loss of the season giving up a 20-14 half time lead to lose 20-24 to Petone.

We enjoyed long periods in opposition territory in the first half scoring three tries, two to James Tuia and one to Mike Buckley in the corner finishing a great break from debutante Billy Proctor. But two defensive lapses proved costly allowing Petone to score against the run of play.

In the second half Petone used the wind to their advantage keeping our team pinned in our own 22 for much of the half. Despite that, our forwards will be disappointed to have not capitalised on two opportunities to score from 5 metre lineouts in the dying minutes.

In the early game, our Premier Reserves got their first win of the season returning from a half time deficit to run home with a 35-22 victory.
