Wins all round as Petelo enters the 100 club

Isaia Petelo became the 41st player to make 100 Premier appearances for Marist St Pats in Saturday's 31-20 win over Johnsonville at Helston Park.

The dynamic midfielder played a prominent role in the win with several notable tackles and a barnstorming run from short distance to score a first half try (video below).

A young looking Premier team toiled away against a Johnsonville side that boasted a big forward pack and who were there to compete. After taking a 21-10 lead into the halftime break, they eventually secured the bonus point win with a try to Billy Proctor with about 15 minutes to play. Paulo Lokeni, Xavier English, Patrick James and Grayson Whitman all made their Premier debuts of the bench in the second half.

In the early game at Helston Park our Premier Reserves continued their dominant form with a 81-3 victory over the Hawks. They continue to boast the most points scored (267) and least points conceded (39) after five rounds in the Harper Lock Shield.

Our Premier Women were one of a number of teams getting their season underway today with a convincing 38-17 win over last year's finalists Old Boys-University at a Gala Day at Ngati Toa Domain. Wellington Pride midfielder Monica Tagoa'i scored two tries.

Elsewhere our sides were continuing to chalk up wins for the club. The Colts got underway with a 39-24 win over Northern United at Jerry Collins Stadium; First Grade had a 32-29 win over Petone at Evans Bay and the club's glamour team - the Presidents - had a close win 19-17 over Johnsonville.
