Prems end with win; Prem Reserves and Colts charge on

It hasn't been a vintage Jubilee Campaign for our Premiers but they turned in the performance we've known they're capable of in a convincing win over Poneke at Evans Bay Park.

Played in glorious sunshine, first half tries to James Tuia, James Proctor and Andrew Wells saw the side take a 21-18 lead into the break.

They struck again within minutes of the whistle sounding to open the second half with Willie Schutz completing a great backline try off a scrum on half way (video below). Prop Steve Moli rumbled over minutes later to extend the lead to 31-18.

Poneke weren't going to rollover with a playoff berth on the cards if they could get a win, but tries to James Tuia and Billy Proctor in the final 10 minutes put the game beyond doubt and the side took a 43-25 victory.

Without a doubt it's been a disappointing Jubilee Cup campaign after the side showed a lot of promise in the Swindale Shield. The team was never comprehensively beaten in the second round and will look back on moments within games that could have turned the results around.

Earlier our Premier Reserves booked themselves a home semi final after a 27-17 win over Poneke. The side has a bye next week and the final round will determine who they will host.

The Colts continued their strong season with a 29-26 win over Tawa on the artificial turf. They host Hutt Old Boys Marist next week looking to secure a semi final spot of their own.
