Premiers lose tight one to Tawa

Our Premiers hopes of making the Jubilee Cup semi finals are on life support following a one point loss to Tawa on Saturday.

The game was tight from wire to wire with a scoreless first half. Tawa hit first in the second, scoring two tries in the first 15 minutes. The Red Machine wasn't going to roll over with two tries scored in two minutes to Isaia Petelo and Andrew Wells taking the home side ahead 14-12.

A penalty put Tawa back in front 14-15 but we had a chance to take the game on full time with a penalty attempt sailing wide only for the referee to blow full time.

With two rounds to play, hopes of making the playoffs are mathematical at this point. The team travels to Hutt Rec to take on HOBM next Saturday.

Earlier at Evans Bay the Premier Reserves had a convinving win over their Tawa counterparts; while the Colts game was called off early and the result unclear at this stage. Both teams remain very much in the playoff picture. The Premier Women were well beaten by unbeaten Norths.
