Top sides keep rolling with wins over Pare-Plim

Our Premier and Premier Reserve sides both sit second (Premiers tied with two others) on their respective competition tables following bonus point wins over Paremata-Plimmerton.

Despite conceding the first try of the day the Premier Reserves were too strong for the Pare-Plim counterparts earning a 41-12 win in some tough conditions. It was great to see last years St Patrick's College and Wellington College 1st XV captains, Xavier English and Naitoa Ah Kuoi, out on the field together in red.

In the Swindale Shield our Premiers controlled the game from start to finish. Enjoying long periods of possession and spending most of the time in opposition territory the side took a 22-0 lead into halftime.

The second half continued in much the same fashion with Paremata-Plimmertons only score coming off a kick ahead in which they won the ensuing foot race as the ball raced into the endzone. In their first Premier start, flanker Jay Hawkins and centre Jayden McCarthy both scored tries (video below); No. 8 Jake Goodger scored a brace.

There are some promising signs coming out of the top sides with solid performances from young players as injuries continue to cause disruption. They head out to Helston Park next weekend to play Johnsonville.
