Premiers fall in semi, Premier Reserves through to final

One week after hoisting the Swindale Shield, our Premiers have fallen in a tight Jubilee Cup semi final to Old Boys-University. Earlier in the day our Premier Reserves booked their spot in the Ed Chaney Cup final after beating Hutt Old Boys Marist.

It was a tough day at the office for the Premiers; a fired up OBU side dominated the first half jumping out to a 22-13 at the break. The MSP cause was not helped by injuries to first five Aidan Morgan at the 30min mark, followed by his replacement James Proctor who left the field just before half time.

A reshuffled backline saw a number of players out of position in the second half but the team refused to rollover. After 63 minutes they narrowed the deficit to just six points, trailing 23-29. A 75th minute OBU penalty proved the difference as an MSP try on full time was not enough to claw back the lead.

Earlier, at Hataitai Park our Premier Reserves won their 12th game in a row after beating Hutt Old Boys Marist in their Ed Chaney Cup final. After entering the halftime break with a 20-8 lead, they put the foot down in the second half to win the game 49-20.

They will face unbeaten Northern United in the final this Saturday, the only team they have lost to this season - back in round one at Jerry Collins Stadium.
