Update from Sean Horan, Director of Rugby

With his first preseason as Director of Rugby in full swing, Sean Horan shares an update for club members.

Welcome to 2024! I hope all our Marist St Pats members and supporters had a safe and enjoyable Christmas and a well deserved break. It's been fantastic being back at MSP given its 24 years since I was last here.

Our club preseason started back in November 2023 and has positively been increasing constantly and are now averaging 40-50 players consistently. Our last training of 2023 (Christmas BBQ) saw over 60 players attend and around 30 non playing members and supporters. We have a had a good mix of senior players, younger players, school leavers and some returning players, which is great.

We have a new bunch of coaches and support team this year which will give us some energy and enthusiasm. Joe our new Strength and Conditioning coach has fitted in nicely and his now finding his feet as a Marist St Pats person and loving it. Its also being great seeing some “new-old” support personal back to help our on and off field performance and standards. We are however still looking for a Head Coach for our Women’s premier team. The team is well supported by management and assistant staff and just needs someone who is keen to help drive the team, learn and be part of the Marist St Pats family. Please reach out if this is you!As always there are challenges that we will face this year, but I have a huge amount of confidence in all that are involved at Marist St Pats for 2024.And lastly to all the players and management that have been attending preseason! Well done. Its been hugely positive with a work ethic that you can all be proud of. Work hard, learn and enjoy.

Sean
