David Isaia new Premier Women Head Coach

Marist St Pats is pleased to announce David Isaia as our new Premier Women's Head Coach for the upcoming season.

David is a familiar face around our club having played with the Internationals and as an active Junior Rugby coach over many years. His appointment as our Premier Women's Head Coach is a success story of someone who has been building his coaching resume and skills and is now ready to take on the challenge.

He also brings experience in the Women's game having coached the St Mary's College Under 15s for the past two years and the St Mary's College 2nd XV last year. He has been an Assistant Coach to the Wellington Centurions U18 girls team over the past two years. David's coaching qualifications include New Zealand Rugby's Level 3 Performance/Advanced certification.

David also has experience coaching in other sports including Personal Training, Boxing and Surf Lifesaving.

His passion for our club and for Women's rugby will be an asset to our defending champion Premier Women as they look to build on their historic 2023 season. Congratulations David on your appointment and thank you for your ongoing service to our club and to Women's rugby.

As shared before Christmas, David will be joined by experienced coaches in Sonny Whitman (Assistant Coach) and Norm Broughton (Resource Coach). As with all teams, our Premier Women will also have access to a number of other resource coaches led by our Director of Rugby, Sean Horan.

In the past 24 hours, Wellington Rugby has confirmed the start date for the Rebecca Liua'ana Trophy competition as 6 April. The first round competition will see a full round robin between all clubs before splitting into two divisions for the second round.

Marist St Pats welcomes new players of all skillsets; if you are interested in playing rugby in 2024 please contact us at msprugby@xtra.co.nz or through our social media channels.
