Members rally around in difficult year

Support from club members during 2020 was a highlight of the Annual Report presented at the club's AGM on 26 November.

Members responded to the challenges of Covid by rallying around MSP in several ways. Revenue from membership subscriptions and donations rose by 40 percent compared to 2019, despite a shortened season, restricted clubroom access and Covid-related financial hardships for members themselves.

Revenue from the clubrooms matched that of last year but that again was despite Covid restrictions, a shortened season and six weeks of cancelled events.

One reason for the good clubrooms' revenue was the celebrations of several team successes, including a Swindale Shield win for the premiers and grade-winning performances from the premier reserves and under-85s.

The 50th anniversary events planned for 2020 had to be postponed but the clubrooms were packed in July for the launch of Tim Donoghue's 50th book, C'Mon Red.
